Early detection
It starts with very practical things: Diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure or cancer come on gradually and patients don't notice them at first. Therefore: take advantage of all preventive check-ups!
Examinations
From the age of 20, the health insurance fund pays for cancer screening by a gynecologist, from 35 every two years for a health and skin cancer check, from 50 every two years for a mammogram and from 55 every ten years for a colonoscopy.
Sleep
Doctors recommend seven to nine hours of sleep - but hardly anyone sticks to it. However, those who sleep too little do not reduce stress properly. This is fatal: the stress hormone cortisol damages the blood vessels in the long term, demineralizes the bones and also drives up blood sugar levels.
Pay attention
Pay attention to your body signals: Does it hurt anywhere? Are your fingernails becoming brittle? Does the mole look strange? If so, don't wait too long, go and see a doctor. And: The German philosopher Ludwig Feuerbach (1804-1872) already wrote:
Your first duty is to make yourself happy!
