Eaten mold? What you should do now!

Please do not store bread in the fridge

Even if it's tempting, because it's well known that many products simply keep longer in the fridge. But baked goods don't like the damp, cool environment: the taste changes unpleasantly and the bread goes moldy even faster. It's better to buy smaller quantities and consume them quickly.

Bread storage: storing bread correctly

Many people swear by the good old bread bin or bread pot, which do their job. But wheat bread in particular dries out quickly in them. If they are made of plastic, bread can also go moldy in the bread box! Packed airtight in plastic bags, you can almost watch fresh bread go moldy - especially if it is still warm. What's more, the crispy crust is gone after just a short time. It is best to store your bread in an air-permeable ceramic pot or clay pot: The bread will keep for a few days, stay fresh and won't go moldy as quickly.

5 tips for keeping your bread for a long time:

  • Your bread will really keep the longest in an unglazed clay pot.
  • Plastic or metal bread boxes need sufficient ventilation holes, otherwise the bread will quickly become moldy.
  • Always place the bread on the cut edge so that it does not become hard.
  • You can reduce the risk of mold by cleaning the bread container with vinegar water once a week.
  • Bread feels best at room temperature (18-22 °C)!
