Glide slowly into the warm water. Deeply inhale the scent of aromatic essences ... Pure well-being. That can even heal. There are a few things you should bear in mind to ensure that your bathing experience is relaxing and restorative.

80% of Germans find bathing relaxing. One in four people take a bath to do something for their health.

The day has been hectic, the weather unfriendly and a headache is on the horizon. There's only one thing to do now: close the door, fill the bath and relax in the water for a few private minutes until all your troubles are forgotten. We know from our own experience that bathing is good for you. We suspect that its effects go beyond the immediate feeling of well-being. So we benefit to the maximum:

The basics

If the water has a temperature of 32 to 38 degrees, it is just right and we find it pleasant. Baths that are too hot dry out the skin. A bath thermometer is therefore ideal. Even if it is tempting, we shouldn't stay in the bath for longer than 15 minutes, otherwise you can see how the skin on your fingers becomes wrinkly. Ideally, you should treat yourself to a bath two or three times a week. If you bathe every day, you should make sure you use additives with moisturizing ingredients. These include, for example, vegetable oils such as almond oil. Otherwise the skin dries out easily or becomes tight.

Take a healthy bath

Baths help our health in two ways: The warmth of the water relaxes the muscles - this is particularly important for tension. Adding essential oils, herbs or medicinal plants can further enhance this positive effect. Due to their organic origin, the active ingredients are not only quickly absorbed by the skin, but also through the respiratory tract and can therefore fully develop their health benefits.

What works how?

If you want to take a bath just before going to bed, products with lavender oil or lemon balm are ideal. They calm you down and help you fall asleep. If a cold is on the way, bath additives with eucalyptus, thyme, pine needles or camphor are a good choice - they open up blocked noses and relieve aching limbs and muscles. Important: do not bathe if you have a fever. If you suffer from sore muscles, you can find relief by adding rosemary, mint oil, arnica or comfrey. Natural moor helps with back pain. Citrus oils lift the mood - great in the morning.
