The end of the year is approaching, people are looking forward to the holidays and everything could be a little more relaxed. Instead, a hectic pace spreads. After all, we have to squeeze through shopping centers and Christmas markets, buy presents and wrap them decoratively, and so on and so forth...
The magic word is "hygge"
But we don't actually have to do any of that. It's up to us whether and how we approach it. We can decide not to get carried away by the annual collective stress and instead consciously indulge in coziness and thus create a balance to our everyday obligations. The magic word for this is "hygge". You're probably thinking to yourself: Excuse me?
The term "hygge" comes from Denmark, where, according to the World Happiness Report, the happiest people in the world live. "Hygge" means something like coziness or security and includes all the pleasures that sweeten everyday life, be it a sociable evening with good friends, a delicious meal or relaxing by warm candlelight on the couch. Making yourself comfortable and creating a safe space for yourself, your family and friends. A place where you can relax.
Prescribe yourself moments of well-being
Let's emulate the number one on the happiness list and create hygge moments for ourselves in these fast-paced and hectic times. How about simply putting on your favorite cuddly outfit tonight and making yourself really comfortable on the sofa? With candlelight, relaxing music and a cup of warming tea in your hands instead of your smartphone. Or spending a cozy evening with your partner or friends with delicious food and pleasant conversation? Think about what makes you feel good and gives you a sense of security. Prescribe yourself a real feel-good treatment.
Why not do it today! Pause for a moment and think about how you can conjure up a really cozy atmosphere in your day today and look forward to your island of comfort. Try it with coziness.
