Sleep yoga: can it work?

In contrast to conventional yoga, you let yourself fall completely during sleep yoga and therefore relax completely: your body weight is completely absorbed by pillows or blankets. Muscles, internal organs and the psyche can relax in this way. Deep breathing enhances the effect. A long and firm cushion, a folded blanket or a harder pillow is used as a base.

Sleep yoga is pure relaxation for body and soul

It works as well as two hours of restful sleep

Yoga Nidra is also known as sleep yoga. Nidra comes from Sanskrit and means sleep or non-consciousness. Yoga Nidra is deep relaxation. If you do it for half an hour, the effect is as effective as two hours of restful sleep. Yoga Nidra relaxes you from everyday stress, regenerates body, mind and soul, promotes creativity and also strengthens the immune system.

This is how it works:

Position of the child
Sit on your heels with your shoulders forward on a long cushion and place a small cushion between your bottom and heels. Rest your head on the side of the cushion and stretch your arms out relaxed next to it. Stay like this for 5 minutes.

The eye of the needle
Lie on your back and pull your legs together until your hips and knees are at right angles. Place your right foot on your left thigh. Grasp the left shin with both hands. Hold for 10 breaths, then switch sides.

The butterfly
Use a firm cushion as a base. Place your upper body on the support, place the soles of your feet together and let your knees fall apart. Close your eyes and breathe deeply. Stay like this for 5 minutes.
