
How does stress arise?
Stress arises, for example, when a working woman tries to juggle her child, career and marriage . At the same time, she wants to be the ideal housewife and, of course, be there for her best friends. She wants to do her best in every role and yet she can't do anyone justice - especially not herself.
What does stress management mean?
Because stress cannot always be avoided, it is all the more important to learn how to deal with it better in everyday life. With appropriate stress management, you can get a grip on your stress levels. But what exactly does stress management mean? The term covers a range of coping strategies. Depending on the type of stress and individual needs, everyone develops their own stress management plan. The following five exercises will help you to learn stress management.
- Organize your time
Important for stress management: time management. This does not mean filling your diary even more efficiently with meetings and appointments, but consciously taking time for yourself. This requires some practice in stress management at first. But you can only reduce stress if you really use the end of the working day as such and don't work at the weekend.
- Shed perfectionism
It is important to let go of perfectionism. Does the project really have to be worked out down to the smallest detail? Does the worktop in the kitchen have to be spotless? The answer is no. If not everything is done 100 percent, but only 80 percent instead, it won't hurt anyone - and there will be more time for more important things.
- Schedule time for yourself
As a minimum, allow yourself at least one evening a week just for yourself. Even better: half an hour every day. How you use this time, which is best integrated into your stress management plan, is up to you. Some people find it best to switch off while doing sport, others while gardening, while others prefer to enjoy a book in a hot bath. Meditation often helps with stress management. These and other relaxation techniques ensure that body and mind are brought back into harmony. The selection ranges from simple breathing exercises, autogenic training and progressive muscle relaxation to tai chi, yoga and qigong. Some of these relaxation techniques can also be practiced at work - ideal when things get hectic at work.
- Maintain social contacts
Because you no longer have to prove anything to friends and family, regular time with loved ones also helps with stress management. Whether it's a games evening, working out together or enjoying a good meal - a relaxed get-together promotes balance and prevents social isolation.
- Take care of your health
Stress management can also be supported with good nutrition. According to the motto "You are what you eat", fast food, sodas and sweets should be removed from your diet. Instead, put healthy food and drinks in your shopping basket and promote your inner well-being.
